On this day

Previous reports: Luton Town 0 Watford 0, 20/04/96
Celebrity birthdays: Adolf Hitler (1889), Luther Vandross (1951)
Historical events: The first mobile home (horse drawn) was used in a journey from London to Cyprus (1879), Mikhail Gorbachev became the first Soviet head of state to visit South Korea (1991).
Saint of the day: Saint Peter Martyr was unjustly ejected from his monastery when female voices were overheard in his cell. Peter had in fact been chatting to three women saints visiting from heaven. He was later vindicated, but Peter was so angry at the time that he complained bitterly to a crucifix, until the figure of Christ on the cross told him off for moaning.
