Saint of the day: Saint Paul fled into the wilderness to avoid persecution in the Second Century. He took up residence in a cave near a spring and palm tree, and stayed there for ninety years. His diet of figs was supplimented by the delivery of half a loaf of bread each day by a raven, who upped the order to a whole loaf when Saint Anthony the Great came to visit.
