FA Carling Premiership, 14/5/00
Coventry City
Our way
By Matt Rowson

And now, the end is near;
And so we face our relegation.
My friends, the path is clear,
To Blundell Park, if I'm not mistaken.
We've seen the season through.
We've travelled each and ev'ry highway;
But more, much more than this
We did it our way.

Goals, we've shipped a few;
But then again, none worth remembering.
We faced opponents new
And better teams than Wolverhampton.
We sang through each defeat;
Each painful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this
We did it our way.

Yes, there were times, you know it's true,
We held up our hands to hide the view.
But through it all, we had no doubt.
Though they ate us up and spat us out.
We stood tall, outsang them all;
And did it our way.

We sang, we danced, we cried.
We've had our fill; our share of losing.
We return to the Nationwide,
But Middlesbrough found us rejoicing.
To think, we did all that;
We beat the Chelse - filled Wembley Way,
Beat Liverpool, One-nil, f***-all,
And did it our way.

For what is a Horn? What has it got?
To believe them, then it has naught.
Marsh's guff, Lineker's squeals;
But we know more, know how it feels.
The record shows we took the blows -
But did it our way!
