The start of a record-breaking run of clean sheets. A draw at Bristol City saw the return of Shipperley to Chelsea and then to Southampton for a million-plus fee. The FA cup brought a long trip to Scarborough for a game so tedious that I can't remember a single on-target shot but at least we didn't lose. Bolton came and played some delightful football - we fought back hard and nearly won it before a couple of brilliant Miller saves denied Bolton's late efforts. A howling gale and sweeping rain made the Scarborough replay a lottery but we got through, David Connolly making a hugely impressive debut. We ended the game with five central defenders as injuries hit hard. Conditions were still atrocious for the Fourth Round tie against Swindon but we made the most of it and only wasted chances stopped the win being more comfortable.
