Saint of the Day: Sarah's confirmation saint! Saint Rose of Lima was the first saint to born in Latin America. She was named Isabel but took the name Rose because when she was an infant her face had been seen transformed by a mystical rose. In later life she sought to disfigure her face to deter admirers and took to wearing a crown of thorns concealed with roses.

Further information

Nicholas Ralph's Word of the Day: "Strappado". A form of punishment presumably involving straps and much ado. Maybe.
