On this day

Previous reports: Burnley 1 Watford 0, 13/11/01
Saint of the Day: Stanislaus Kostka had a miserable childhood, despite being born into nobility. His family made fun of his pious nature, even sending a prostitute to his room to shock him. He grew gravely ill but was not allowed to see a priest, so the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus came to visit him instead. Mary suggested he joined the Jesuits, so he walked over three hundred miles to Rome where he died within a year and was immediately hailed as a saint.
