On this day

Previous reports: Watford 1 Newcastle United 1, 20/11/99
Saint of the Day: Saint Edmund's army was defeated by Vikings and to save the lives of his people, he offered himself up to the enemy for execution. Fearing his head might be worshipped, the Vikings buried it in a different part of a forest to the rest of his body, where a wolf came and stood guard. When Edmund's supporters went searching for the head to reunite it with his body, the head called out to them to alert them to where it lay, still protected by the wolf.

Further information

Nicholas Ralph's Numbers - Game 20: Mayan astronomers (400 AD-ish) used Base 20 arithmetic for creating calendars which also recognized the value of zero, way, way, way before the rest of us did. Did they use tacky pictures of donkeys and sunsets, too?
Lucky animal: Ferrets.
Unlucky food: Lard pies. And lard sandwiches. And lard soup. Pretty much everything involving lard, basically.
The BSaD Interview: Throughout the 2004-05 Season BSaD are interviewing eminent ex-Hornets for the matchday programme. The Interviewee in Saturday's programme is Paul Robinson.
