BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

03/04: Preview: Coventry City
BSaD opinion
by Matt Rowson and Ian Grant

How did they do?
If you gloss over a mauling at Vicarage Road and the embarrassment of a lumbering Steve Walsh in the middle of defence, the Sky Blues started out pretty well. The crucial departure of Thompson to Blackburn, however, precipitated a cataclysmic run which has seen City win just once in the League since Boxing Day. Slightly fortunate that the season didn't last a week or so longer...

How will they do?
McAllister, one of several managers in this division operating on a budget of potatoes and aniseed balls, adopted the approach of getting in there early to rebuild his squad, fourteen of whom were released at the end of the season. Of the replacements, however, Andy Morrell is a (perhaps necessary) gamble after one good season in Division Three with Wrexham, and Barrett struggled to impress in Brighton's relegated side last season. Loanee Stephen Warnock and perhaps Dele Adebola are the main sources of optimism, although not sufficient optimism to make the latter's talk of a promotion challenge anything but laughable. Could go down.

Coventry as a shade of Crown Paint
"Orchard Green"
A little tip for you. Don't paint on wet plaster, unless you want it all to peel off and look ghastly.
