Saint of the day: Saint Spiridon, a rough and ready sheep farmer, was an embarrassment to other bishops. To prevent him travelling with them, they cut off the heads of his white and brown mules. Under the cover of darkness he restored the animals' heads. But it was dark and he ended up arriving at his destination on a white mule with a brown head.
