BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

02/03: Preview: Coventry City
BSaD opinion
by Matt Rowson

How did they do?
Year after year the sides relegated from the top flight underestimate the extent to which Division One sucks you in, bleeds you dry and embeds you in its barren landscape. Hell, it happened to us after one supremely inglorious attempt at the Premiership, so City can't really be blamed for viewing the season with wide-eyed optimism. Stuffed they were though, and are now on their third manager in less than twelve months.

How will they do?
Have a decent enough squad but considerably less than no money, no new ground and an untried manager. Bryan Richardson has gone, however, so it's not all bad, and the first team looks decent enough. Might challenge for a play-off place if Lee Hughes rediscovers his Baggie form, but another season hovering on the fringes seems more likely.

Coventry on Big Brother...?
Like Jade in the last series, spend a long time defying the odds, avoiding eviction against all anticipation. Then get evicted when a little more was expected. (Not nearly as annoying as Jade though).
