Previous reports: Birmingham City 1 Watford 2, 05/04/99, Watford 0 Crewe Alexandra 1, 05/04/97, Peterborough United 3 Watford 4, 05/04/94
Celebrity birthdays: Colin Powell (1937), Agnetha Faltskog (1950), Stan Ridgway (1954)
Historical events: American Indian Pocahontas married English colonist John Rolfe in Virginia (1614); Ian Rush scored as Liverpool lost the Littlewoods Cup Final to Arsenal. It was his 202nd goal for Liverpool, but the first time they had failed to win in a game in which he had scored (1987).
Saint of the day: Saint Vincent Ferrer was a bit of a mediaeval pin-up boy. He may have been a monk, but it didn't stop the ladies literally swooning over his good looks and powerful baritone voice. This may have had an effect on his ego, but when Vincent proclaimed himself "the Angel of Judgement" he was able to prove it by raising the dead.
