BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

01/02: Preview: Sheffield Wednesday
BSaD opinion
by Matt Rowson

How did they do?
Faced with needing to massively reduce costs and needing to frantically juggle with loan signings to get a team out, it's hardly surprising that Wednesday struggled for much of the season. Shreeves took over from Jewell, who probably felt as if he'd been sacked for failing to break into Fort Knox with a swiss army knife, and kept the Owls up in the end.

How will they do?
The Owls still have no money and, at the time of writing, one striker. A lot of the kids look decent, but the first team squad looks brittle at best. Should just about stay up, but remain a monument to all concerned of the potential perils of gambling on a Premiership place. Not mentioning any names, like.

Do we like them?
Not too bothered really, although the fact that we couldn't finish above them in the relegation season, even though they clearly couldn't be arsed, hurt quite a lot.

If they were a tv or radio show, what would they be?
"Grandstand". The wind whistles harshly around a once great institution.
