On this day

Previous reports: Watford 2 Sunderland 3, 27/11/99
Celebrity birthdays: Bruce Lee (1940), Jimi Hendrix (1942)
Historical events: The American Statistical Association was founded in Boston (1839); In Venezuela, rebel forces tried but failed to overthrow President Carlos Andres Perez for the second time in ten months (1992)
Saint of the day: After St Fergus had died, his relics were kept in Glamis for several centuries, until, under James IV, the abbot of Scone exhumed the body. Fergus was returned to his upgraded marble tomb, but minus his head. Fergus seems to be unlucky at staying intact, as Aberdeen had an arm and the British Museum has got some bits as well.
