On this day

Previous reports: Watford 0 Bournemouth 1 (29/03/97)
Celebrity birthdays: Eric Idle (1943), M.C. Hammer (1963)
Historical events: Coca-Cola goes on sale (1886); "Hommy", the Puerto Rican version of the rock opera "Tommy", opened in New York City (1973).
Saint of the day: Saints Woolos and Gladys were the Bonnie and Clyde of the saint world. Woolos (real name Gwynllyw, for any Scrabble players out there) was a Celtic chief who kidnapped his love Gladys from her clan. For years they robbed and committed random acts of violence, until they became the first converts of their son, St Cadoc. Under the influence of Cadoc's piety, they abandoned their criminal lifestyle to become holy hermits.
