How did they do?
A bit disappointing given that they reached the play-off final the previous season. Never looked like repeating the trick last time, and were on the slide before replacing Bassett with Nigel Spackman.

How will they do?
Spackman, who was unlucky to lose his job at Bramall Lane in 1998, has made some tidy signings, but the Tykes were struggling for goals before Shipperley left. At the time of writing they had not replaced him, let alone strengthened their hand. It will take a heavy dose of bad luck for Barnsley to struggle, but don't expect to see them challenging for promotion either.

Do we like them?
Oh I guess so... much easier to do so now that Bassett has left. Kevin Miller is still a bit of a hero after all, and Bruce Dyer's career is turning out to be such a disappointment that his departure seems far less of an issue now than it did at the time.

If they were a tv or radio show, what would they be?
Given last December's challenging trip to Oakwell "Holiday on Ice" seems about right.
